At Back to Balance Canine, we tailor our training program to fit the specific needs of a dog as an individual and strive to create a strong, and healthy relationship between dog and human. Whether the dog is someone that requires serious behavioral modification or is one that would benefit from better house and leash manners, our training philosophy will help you and your dog reach your goals.

The first step in our training program is to establish a calm state of mind for your dog, which they can bring with them through all scenarios of life. From the start, we want to set clear intentions for your dog and teach owners awareness of their own state of mind and the energy that they bring to the relationship. This focus on a balanced mindset is the foundation of the training program in which we build engagement and markers to form our communication system and establish clear expectations for pet obedience.

We are a reward-based balanced training program that uses all four quadrants of learning. This means that we can communicate through positive and negative reinforcement. We first teach each behavior through positive reinforcement, and we use this to condition tools such as prong collar and e-collar in negative reinforcement to create a comprehensive language with our dogs.

Once behaviors are known to the dog, we can then show them gradually more complicated scenarios where the same rules apply; this is known as proofing. Proofed skills become second nature to the dog and at this point, we are able to correct any unwanted behaviors without compromising our dogs’ understanding and love for learning. This instills lasting habits that you will enjoy for the lifetime of your dog. It is this quality that makes our program sought after by pet owners and local rescues alike to bring balance back to the relationship between dog and human.
