Our team
Dallas
Owner/ Lead Trainer
Dallas has been surrounded by a variety of animals from a very young age, from horses, to birds, to reptiles to dogs. By the first summer of college at CSU Monterey Bay, she was fully committed to dog training.
In 2012 Dallas graduated from Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers, where her interest was sparked in behavior modification and dog psychology. This led her to the training of Sherry Lucas, Brian Agnew, and Alica Bloomfield. For 6 months between 2017 and 2019, she worked dogs at Alicia’s facility training dogs across the spectrum on behavior modification. Hungry for more challenges, Dallas turned back to Micheal Ellis for sport-style and obedience training.
Dallas founded Back to Balance Canine in 2017 with the goal of bringing balance to the worlds of sport and pet behavior and psychology. In that year she got her first sport dog, a male Dutch Shepherd she named Salem. Dallas and Salem are pursuing his Level 2 in French Ring and his Level 1 in PSA (Protection Sport Association). Since Salem, Dallas has raised upwards of 5 working dogs that have gone on to various sport and working homes. Dallas kept one of these dogs; Rebel a female malinois, who got her PDC at only 15 months of age and is pursuing her PSA Level 1.
As an extension of her sport training, Dallas attended Michael & Bart Bellon’s NePoPo school between 2021 and 2022 where she received her Silver and Gold Certifications. NePoPo has not only advanced forward Dallas’ sport training, but also brings greater clarity to her pet training. Dallas’ push to continually refine her skills is what makes Back to Balance Canine sought after by people all over the Bay Area, whether they are looking for quality pet training, behavioral modification, or advanced sport obedience.
Chelsea
lead Trainer
Chelsea has been training with Back to Balance Canine since 2020. After receiving her BS from Santa Clara University, she began a career in personal fitness training and competition. Chelsea’s companion dog Peanut has been with her through most of her fitness career and is a true gym dog. When Chelsea adopted a second dog, Jet, she sought out training with Dallas. Thanks to Chelsea’s 12 years of experience in training and coaching, paired with her lifetime of experience around dogs, she quickly picked up dog training. Chelsea’s willingness to learn and great communication skills made her an excellent fit at B2BK9 and in 2021 Chelsea became a lead trainer.
Also in 2021, Chelsea began training in various dog sports. She began working a then resident B2BK9 dog Butcher in obedience and bite sports. Butcher has since joined Chelsea’s pack and they now train in IGP and are pursuing their entry titles. Chelsea also works Jet in tracking and scent work.
Out of Chelsea’s three dogs, each one has a very unique personality to the other. But because of the quality of training her dogs have, they are able to experience a life many dogs can only dream of.
Chelsea’s personal training background has taught her when a skill is clean enough to move on and when more repetitions are needed. Through her practice of goal identification and breaking down the steps to accomplish the end goal, she hopes to provide the tools and coaching for clients to experience life with their dogs the way she does with her own.
Jensen
Trainer
Jensen started her professional career as a Software Engineer after studying Mathematics and Computer Science as an undergraduate. She always knew dogs would be a part of her life but never thought she would experience such a drastic change until she adopted an extremely challenging dog, Riley. After struggling with her dog’s many behavior issues, she began training with Dallas as a client. It didn’t take long for her to realize that she could turn this new passion into a career and joined the Back to Balance family.
Jensen thoroughly enjoys working with all clients and their dogs, but has a soft spot for those experiencing reactivity. As someone who has struggled and worked through reactivity with her personal dog, she finds joy in providing similar support that she had after feeling hopeless for so long with Riley.
As a newer member to the B2BK9 team, she is eager to learn from those around her and is always up to the challenge. Her hard work and natural dog sense have allowed her to quickly provide a helpful hand to our clients and board & trains.
Jensen has aspirations of joining the protection sport dog world. She has began learning to decoy and hopes to get her own working dog soon.
Madison
Client Communicator and Office Administrator
In 2020 we saw a wave of new inquiries that were beginning to take Dallas away from spending the time training dogs that she wanted to. Madison and Dallas connected and since then, Madison has used her detail-oriented skill sets to fill almost every role required of a small business. She and Dallas work closely to ensure that dogs and humans are well taken care of.
Madison has two dogs, Lila and Bruce, who she travels the US with via her self-converted van. She works remotely to develop graduate programs, address incoming clients’ needs, manage financials, and handle the day-to-day of the business. Since joining Back to Balance Canine, Madison’s engagement in training her own dogs has grown exponentially. Madison trains her female dog Lila during play for fulfillment and is pursuing conservation scent detection with her male dog, Bruce.
The Balanced Pack
Salem is the catalyst to Dallas’ professional sport career. Salem and Dallas as a team took first place at the 2019 French Ring Regionals in Texas. Dallas continues to learn and grow with Salem and aims to compete at high levels in various sports.
Rebel is Dallas’ youngest dog who was her first to be raised in a play first training style. Rebel is a really great example of how Dallas always keeps her mind open to new techniques to add into her repertoire.
Phoenix is Dallas’ helper with B2BK9 students. He is the first dog that incoming dogs meet and aids Dallas in evaluating and reading new additions. Phoenix is a teacher himself who is able to give fair and effective corrections to other dogs to teach them how to behave in a pack. Phoenix is frequently involved in the socialization process and helps Dallas maintain respectful behavior with new additions to the pack.
Teva is an easy going dog that loves every person she meets. She currently works at a preschool as a therapy dog to help kids build good experiences around dogs.
Kota is where Dallas has learned many of the problem-solving solutions she applies with client dogs. She has been a humbling experience and the biggest teacher to Dallas for shaping and behavior modification. Because of Kota, Dallas is truly able to put herself in her clients’ shoes and know the struggles they have faced and how to work your way out of them.
