Below are a few dog training courses we offer in Los Gatos, CA, for the San Francisco Bay Area.
Dog Board and Training
Each board and train program is designed to teach and reinforce foundational obedience skills and manners.
During these courses, your puppy or adult dog will stay with us to learn:
- Basic training, including sit, down, and here, including how to wait until you say release
- Impulse control or “off switch” training
- Loose leash walking for trust building
- Socializing your dog with humans and other animals
- Off-leash training
- Addressing aggressive or territorial behavior
- Remaining calm in stimulating or stressful environments
- Appropriate behavior in challenging environments such as pet stores and public spaces
We offer three board and train courses, including:
- Puppy Board and Train for puppies between 4 and 6 months of age. These little ones will spend 12 days with us in our California facility where they will build a love for training and engagement through age appropriate learning games.
- Pet Board and Train for adult dogs aged 6 months and older to learn and solidify all the key pet skills.
- Intensive Board and Train is for adult dogs with specific behavior issues, including general anxiety, separation anxiety, reactivity, territorial behavior, resource guarding, and more.
Private Dog Training Lessons
Our private dog training lessons in San Francisco may be just what you need if you are eager to put the training reps in with your dog yourself. We’ll start with once-weekly sessions, then schedule them as necessary to reinforce your skills and pinpoint areas for growth.
Through these sessions, your trainer will teach you and your dog:
- Leash pressure to develop loose leash walking techniques
- Introductory and intermediate place work
- Other basic commands (sit, stay) to practice at home
For private lessons to be most effective, it’s crucial that you work with your dog at home to reinforce what you’ve learned.
Competitive Obedience Training
If you and your pup love competing in skill drills or dog shows, this is the perfect training course for you. Our competitive dog training courses include private, focused 30 to 45-minute training sessions with Back to Balance Canine owner, Dallas, who specializes in training applicable to sports such as:
- AKC Obedience
- French Ring
- Protection Sports Association (PSA)
Dallas will show you how to challenge your canine companion with advanced dog training techniques, empowering them to hone skills and learn new ones. Additionally, we offer board-and-train programs for those who want to do athletic training with their dogs or help solidify their advanced training skills.
Dog Training Group Classes
We offer basic and refresher group training lessons so that your dog can learn new skills in a group environment, or reinforce the skills they learned during any of our other programs.
The basic training class is best for puppies and adult dogs under 18 months old without significant behavioral issues. We’ll help you teach your dog useful skills like duration sits, downs, loose leash walking, and placework.
Our refresher course is for dog/owner teams who’ve graduated from any of our programs other than beginner group class and want to keep their skills sharp in challenging environments. During each group dog training class, we provide fun and interesting challenges that put your teamwork to the test, offering guidance to improve areas that need attention.
Dog Pack Walk
Once every other month (weather permitting), we invite a group of our dog training graduates to join us on a nature hike in the beautiful scenery surrounding San Francisco, CA.
Dog Pack Walks are available to Graduate Program participants. To qualify for our graduate program, you must complete one of our Board and Train programs, such as:
- Refresher Board and Train
Perfect for dogs who’ve graduated from their training program at least six months prior. This dog training practice course tests how much knowledge you and your dog have retained and what they need to work on moving forward.
- Returning Client Private Lessons
These 1-hour private sessions give us time to focus solely on you and your pup.
- Boarding Program
If you’re traveling and need to board your dog, they can stay with us at our specialized Bay Area location. We’ll keep them healthy, happy, and safe while you’re away, while holding them to the same standards we did during our board and train .
