Dog Board and Training
Our dog board and train program offers an opportunity for your dog to learn all of the necessary skills and manners to be a successful member of your family. At our specialized facility, your dog can focus on learning new skills and proper communication.
With our board and train services, we can address the following goals:
- Loose leash walking, recalls, and other skills
- Socialization with humans and other dogs
- Basic obedience including sit, down, and here
- Behavioral challenges
- Improved behavior outside of comfortable environments
Private Lessons
Private training gives you and your dog the opportunity to have one-on-one lessons personalized to the specific needs of your household. Private dog training lessons are tailored to the behavior and personality of your dog and the skills you want them to learn.
Your dog won’t be the only one learning; with private lessons, your trainer will show you how to build on the training at home. Much of the obedience and dog training skills taught in these lessons will be most effective if you stay consistent even after your lessons are complete.
Our private lessons start at once a week, and the frequency is then adjusted depending on the progress you and your dog are making.
Beginner Group Classes
A few times a year we offer group classes for young dogs looking to get started on training. These programs are best suited for dogs under 1.5 years of age without behavioral issues. Group classes are capped at 10 attendees and occur in sets of 6 classes per course. Goals for the course include duration sits, downs, loose leash walking, and placework.
Competitive Obedience Training
If you plan to enter your dog in any sports like AKC Obedience, French Ring, or PSA, we offer specialized obedience training to prepare you and your dog for competition. This training is also great if you and your dog enjoy training and building advanced communication skills.
Our advanced obedience training consists of 30 – 45 minute lessons depending on your dog’s stamina and drive. Dallas, the founder of Back to Balance Canine, specializes in competitive style obedience dog training and will help your dog build their focus and endurance. You will also learn techniques for pushing your dog to new heights so you can continue training for the sport of your choice.
Graduated Group Classes
Once your dog has graduated from a training program, a refresher course is a good way to ensure they stay on track. Our refresher group classes are offered twice a month in alternating public spaces, allowing you and your dog to practice learned skills in a challenging environment while around other dogs.
Refresher group classes will keep your dog’s skills sharp and offer an opportunity for trainers to answer any questions or lend advice for things you should change about your training.
Pack Walk Refresher Training
In addition to refresher sessions, we also offer pack walks to anyone who has graduated from one of our training packages. Once a month, you will receive an invitation to our pack walk events, which usually consist of a hike or nature walk. This is a free event and a great way to get you and your dog out in the world practicing their dog training skills.
Benefits of Dog Training
As much as we would like to, we can’t sit our dogs down and explain to them why their bad behavior creates challenges for us. Instead, we can utilize techniques and tools that teach your dog the necessary manners and skills to live happily in your home. Training early in a dog’s life will prevent small behavioral issues from manifesting into more serious problems.
Here are some of the goals we can address with our training services:
Basic obedience and commands like “sit”, “here”, and “down”
Loose leash walking
Socialization with humans and other dogs
Off switch on place
Appropriate behavior in public places
Behavioral challenges such as guarding behaviors, aggression, and reactivity
At Back to Balance, we use methods that are focused on building trust while also having fun. Our dog training is designed to engage your dog’s body and mind while they learn the skills to live a safer and happier life with you.
